We want to introduce you to some projects, which sooner or later we will have to carry out. Everything we need so that afterward the church congregation would serve people the best, and so that we would feel good about our surroundings. It is not always about money. It also helps to give materials.
The first written record of Obišovce was found in state archives in Budapest from the year 1289. The village’s original name was Abush. For fifteen centuries, German miners lived here. In the year 1444, Queen Elizabeth summoned the region’s Ján Jiskra from Brandýs, a leader of the Hussites. This man was established as head of the Šariš region. Thanks to him, the ideas of the Hussites were spread throughout the region, and Hussite priests influenced the village.
The church congregation actually consists of six different villages: Obisovce, Kysak, Trebejov, Lemešany, Suchá Dolina, and Drienovská Nová Ves. The choir rehearses under the direction of Mrs. Julie Raczova, former choir director of the State Theater in Kosice. The choir has a long-standing tradition in the church and regularly serves during holidays and special celebrations. Also, the choir’s name is well-known in a wide area surrounding Obisovce.
