Confirmation 2007, 17. june 2007
We have a tradition in our church to celebrate the confirmation service the
Sunday after the Acsension of our Lord. This year four young people affirmed
their faith and were confirmed on this Sunday in May.
Confirmation weekend - Spring 2007, 1. may 2007
From April 27 to April 29, we had a weekend retreat for confirmands with
the youth group and friends in Bardejov. Confirmands prepared for their
upcoming test and confirmation service as well as went swimming, played games,
and had Bible study. The theme was „Who are you kicking for?,“ (Za
koho kopes?) and we talked about playing for Jesus' team!
Laying pipeline for the well, 17. april 2007
At the beginning of 2007, we discovered that the water in the new well by the
parsonage is very bad. It is not at all suitable for drinking or washing. It
was necessary to quickly fix this problem. We have another well nearby with
good water. With God's help, we were given a machine for digging. The next
stage was manually breaking hard rocks which could not be removed by machine. To
accomplish this work took us three beautiful sunny days.
Passion Musical 2007, 3. april 2007
On the last day of March we performed a musical called „You are witnesses
of these things“ (Luke 24:48). Performers included the Obisovce Lutheran
Church youth group, the Lutheran adult choir, and the Catholic
women's choir Katarinka.
Handmade Crafts - Spring 2007, 18. march 2007
On Sunday, March 18, women from the Obisovce congregation met at the
Basitov's house in Kysak to make handmade Easter crafts. You can look at
some of their work here. Money from the sales was dedicated to the deaf-blind
school in Cervenici.
Day for Presbyters - Spring 2007, 10. march 2007
On Saturday, March 10, 2007, we met with presbyters and coworkers of our church
congregation in the town hall of Kechnec. A highlight was a conversation
with Kechnec mayor JUDr., Bc. Jozef Konkoly and his wife. They showed us the
town of Kechnec, including the industrial park, sport center, health clinic,
and cemetery in addition to the beautifully renovated town hall. We felt that
it went very well.
World Day of Prayer 2007, 4. march 2007
On Sunday, March 4, 2007, we met for the World Day of Prayer in the Lutheran
Church in Kysak. Believers from the Roman Catholic and Lutheran church
congregations met together with the Catholic priest and the Lutheran pastor.
The program centered on women from Paraguay.
Confirmation Weekend - Fall 2006, 1. october 2006
We had a weekend for the confirmands in Chmelov in October of 2006. Our youth
group organized the entire weekend, with help from some youth from Presov.
Everyone enjoyed themselves and said at the end that they liked it.
Day Camp for Children - 2006, 1. july 2006
Together with the Catholic congregation in Obisovce we organized a week long day
camp for children in July of 2006. All leaders were volunteers. To prepare and
organize this event took over 30 volunteers, and it was our first attempt
at organizing a summer day camp!
Confirmand Weekend - Spring 2006, 15. april 2006
Before confirmation, it is necessary for confirmands to prepare for their exams.
They prepared for these exams and did other things during this weekend in
Rankovce. The weather was chilly and damp, but everything went well thanks to
the hosting pastors.
Handmade Crafts - Spring 2006, 1. march 2006
Before Easter we organized our first handmade craft festival. Many people met at
the parsonage for an afternoon of fun. We made many Easter crafts.
Christmas Party 2005, 20. december 2005
We had a party before the Christmas holidays. Youth from Presov and Rankovce
came also. We had a lot of fun!
Pastor Installation, 21. november 2004
On Sunday, November 21, 2004, Pastor Daniel Misina was installed as pastor of
the Obisovce Lutheran Church congregation. Pastor Samuel Linkesch, senior
pastor from Kosice, presided and Roman Poruban gave the sermon, pastor from
Kezmarku and Misina's classmate in seminary. Also present were Igor
Misina, Bishop of the Eastern Slovakian District, retiring pastor of the
congregation Senior Ladislav Fricovsky, and Obisovce's Catholic parish
priest, and other guests.
Summer Camp in Spisska Nova Ves, 1. july 2004
In the summer of 2004, we organized a trip to Spisska Nova Ves. It was the
closest Sunday to District day, and we helped set up chairs for that event. The
weather was fickle, but we went on a hike and to a spa. The
congregation's superintendant allowed us to stay in the gym of a
school. Pastor Dusan Havrila of Kosice also visited us.
